Carolina Panthers Draft Tracker |
1.25 Cornerback Rashean Mathis [95], 6'1 202, 27 years old Bethane Cookman
Analysis - Mathis is an older player at 27, but has very few years played. he is a physical specimin, boasting excellent height and speed, and superb hands. will be a shut down corner for Carolina.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.8 Wide Reciever Andre Johnson [94] 6'2 221, 26 years old, Miami
Analysis - Andre Johnson is a big fast physical WR, who is going to be the Panthers #1 WR. Johnson is strong, and very fluid, and breaks tackles very well for a WR.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.25 Running Back Marion 'The Barbarian' Barber [89] 5'11 221, 24 years old, Minnesota
Analysis - What can you say? hes called the Barbarian for a reason. moves the pile very well, and is fast enough to outrun defenders to the corner. Should be very proficient in GM Kenneth West's offense.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4.8 Wide Reciever Dwayne Bowe [85] 6'2 221, 22 years old, LSU
Analysis - Dwayne Bowe is a physical clone to Andre Johnson nearly. and everythign said about Johnson, applies to Bowe.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5.25 Outside Linebacker Kamerion Wimbley [87] 6'4, 225, 22 years old, Florida State
Analysis - The second member of what so far is shaping up to be a big physical defense in Carolina. Wimbley is fast, and a very good tackler, and at 6'4 gives the Panthers great size off the edge on Defense.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6.8 Center Olin Kreutz, [98] 6'2 293, 30 years old, Washington
Analysis - Kreutz is the first offensive lineman brought to Carolina due to the league wide draft. Kruetz is a veteran lineman, who has a history of bieng an excellent teacher, and an excellent anchor on the offensive line. The Panthers are very happy to secure his services, and hope to continue to surround him with young talent for him to have his influence on.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7.25 Defensive End Tamba Hali, [88] 6'2, 265, 23 Years old, Penn State
Analysis - Hali is a prototypical RE, in a madden defense, strong and quick and will be a very good pass rusher from the right side, and is also able to be effective stopping the run. Hali is a solid pick by Carolina to begin the building of the defensive line.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8.8 Defensive End Mark Anderson [87], 6'4, 255, 24 years old, Alabama
Analysis - And the Panthers follow with the selection of their Left defensive end. Anderson is not quite as quick as they might like, but is quick enough to get the job done. Should be a 10 sack guy at LE.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9.25 Outside Linebacker Keith Bullock, [97] 6'3, 235, 30 years old, Syracuse
Analysis - Bullock brings veteren leadership to a so far very young Panthers defense. Bullock will man thr LOLB spot in Carolina, while Kamerion Wimbley mans the right side.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10.08 Defensive Tackle Alan Branch [78] 6'6, 330, 22 years old, Michigan
Analysis - Alan Branch brings a big body to Carolina, a known and trusted comodity for GM West. He has a history of getting the most out of big hearty DT's like Branch.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
11.25 Cornerback Dominique Foxworth, [83] 5'11, 180, 24 years old, Maryland
Analysis - Foxworth adds a rangey CB, to play the #2 CB spot, and team with the Panthers first pick Rashean Mathis, to form a solid young cornerback tandem.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
12.08 Free Safety Danieal Manning, [83] 5'11, 202, 25 years old, Abeliene Christian
Analysis - Danieal Manning brings a rangy safety into the defensive fold, as the Panthers continue to work on building the defense. Manning is a ball hawk, who lacks aideal size for the free safety spot, but makes up for it with out of this worl athletic ability.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
13.25 Offensive Tackle Adam Snyder, [78] 6'6, 325, 25 years old, Oregon
Analysis - Snyder is a mauler at LT, and wil give the Panthers a big body up front, joining C Olin Kreutz on the panthers offensive front. Solid technique blocking, but lacks athleticism.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
14.08 Offensive Tackle Erik Pears [81] 6'8, 305, 25 years old, Colorado State
Analysis - Pears is a tall, lanky finesse blocker on the right side, whos athleticism will counter balance the lack of athleticism at LT. Pears should be an excellent RT for years to come.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
15.25 Defensive Tackle Jovan Haye [82] 6'2, 285, 25 years old, Vanderbuilt
Analysis - Jovan Haye is one of the most athletic DT's in the league., and imediatly becomes the Yin to Alan Branch's Yang on the Panthers D-Line. giving them a legitimate pass rush up the middle, leaving Branch to stuff the run. Things are looking good along the Panthers D-Line.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
16.8 Kicker Josh Brown [90] 6'0 202, 28 Years Old, Nebraska
Analysis - Simple explination. with the run on Kickers going on, the Panthers had to ensure they got their kicker for the forseeable future. Brown will be counted on for alot of points, as the Panthers still do not have a QB on the roster.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
17.25 Offensive Guard Dan Buenning [81], 6'4, 320, 24 years old, Wisconsin
Analysis - Buenning brings another big body into the fold on the offensive line for Carolina, and leaves just one stone unturned for the starting 5. Buenning will slide to LG and team with Adam Snyder to give the Panthers a large pair of bodies on the left side of the line.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
18.08 Offensive Guard David Baas [80] 6'4, 319, 25 years old, Michigan
Analysis - David Baas finalizes the Panthers starting five on the offensive line, and gives the Panthers thier second complete starting unit on the team, joining the Defensive line. All 4 young lineman, except to learn alot from Olin Kreutz.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
19.25 Quarterback Joey "Ballgame' Harrington [79], 6'4 220, 27 years old, Oregon
Analysis - Joey Ballgame has had a troubled career so far, but he is heading to Carolina, where all he has to do,is not turn the ball over. Can he get that done? Time will tell. he has an adequate arm, but lacks a little on instincts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
20.08 Strong Safety Michael Lewis [84] 6'1, 211, 27 years old, Colorado
Analysis - The addition of Michael Lewis, gives the Panthers a big strong hard hitting safety, who can come up and defend the run, as well as stalk WR's over the middle. Brings a veteran presence to the Panthers secondary.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
21.25 Middle Linebacker Akin Ayodele [84] 6'2, 257, 27 years old, Purdue
Analysis - Akin Ayodele brings more veteren leadership to what was otherwise a young defense. Ayodele is a big physical middle linebacker, who still has the range to chase plays down from behind.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
22.08 Tight End Tony Scheffler [79] 6'5, 254, 24 years old, Western Michigan
Analysis - Tony Scheffler brings another big recieving target to Carolina, giving Joey Harrington a security blanket. Scheffler is big, physical, and quick enough to stretch the field vertically.
