New Redsksins GM

Today the Redskins have announced the hiring of new GM Erik Haag. I am currently a coach in an LP league called Monday Night Lights. I have been there for I think 5 seasons now. I see this team is a good team and goes to the playoffs a lot. I hope to continue that run. I hope to start having friendly rivalry's with all of you. I think I'm going to have a lot of fun in the USFL. Thanks for giving me a shot and I will try not to let you guys down Very Happy

Redskins Draft Day One
The Skins were picking at the 30th position in the draft this year. Not a great position to have but an improvement over their Super Bowl year. The Skins were eyeing a DT that nearly fell to them only to be snatched up by the Broncos at 1.28. This left the Skins searching for raw talent that may be able to crack the starting lineup.

1.30
WR Ramses Barden a monster at 6'6" who can jump and block which are both bonuses beyond his obvious receiving skills. Expect Barden to be the incumbent replacement for the aging WR Drew Bennett in the next season or two. He will fit in nicely at WR3 bumping the big playmaker young WR Chris Hannon to the 4 spot. With this acquisition the Skins wasted no time in cutting WR Kassim Osgood who will likely find a home on a new club before the season begins. The Skins starting 3 WR are 6'5", 6'5", and 6'6". They should pose a problem for the leagues smaller DB again this season. Barden brings more speed than Osgood was able to offer and was a skilled blocker in college.

2.30
TE Shawn Nelson was picked up in the second round. He will see immediate playing time behind TE Antonio Gates. Gates is the leagues premier TE. This gives the Skins two receiving threats from the double TE formations. TE Moran Norris was cut to make room for the rookie in spite of his 20 pancakes last season. TE Norris caught as many balls in his short career at TE as he had drops. This moves 6'8" monster Greg Estandia to the TE3 spot.

3.30
DT Sammy Lee Hill will rotate in at DT with last years rookie sack record holder DT Red Bryant and standout DT Paul Soliai. That leaves both vet DT looking at the chopping block. Time will tell if one or both DT Colin Cole and DT Alfonso Boone make the squad this coming season.

4.30
LB Marcus Freeman is behind one of the best starting 3 LB Corps in the league. The Skins had one of the top rated defenses before QB Peyton Manning destroyed the Skins hopes of back to back Super Bowls. With that said the Skins have no depth on defense and are subject to hard times if injury strikes. LB Freeman will start ahead of veteran LB Lemar Marshall. LB Marshall is aging and only recorded 10 tackles last season with no deflections in pass coverage. The Skins scouts were impressed with Freeman's jumping and felt he had a good combo of strength and tackling to make it in the USFL. He definitely has the speed to be successful. We may see a shift of backup LB which will leave someone out of a job. Chances are both Freeman and vet Marshall will make the cut so the question remains which LB will end up on the chopping block.
